CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Fifteen municipal employees of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur who were accused of Serious Illegal Detention and Grave Coercion surrendered to the operatives of Police Regional Office 1 under the direct supervision of Police Brigadier General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr, Regional Director at the PRO1 Auditorium, Camp Florendo, Parian, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The case was filed February last year, when the former Mayor of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Josh Edward Cobangbang and 19 others allegedly detained a resort operator and several employees during the closure of the resort .

Police Brigadier General Rodolfo S Azurin, Jr PRO1 Regional Director identified the suspects as:

Katrina Cruz Soriano, 33; Raquel Somera Ancheta, 51; Ednalyn Sabaten Silario, 46;Jessar Rei Siababa Cruz, 24; Constancia Lazo Quinola,61; Humprey Savellano Catriz, 39; Jerly Oda Manantan Flores, 24 and Benny Sardeng Agbayani, 26 (Surrendered August 6, 2020, Friday).

Kevin Segui Somera, 34; Austin Giorgio Soller Serna, 25; Alvin Silario Solis, 30;Ronillo Somera Santigo, 51 Renato Sabugo Roman, 57; Rexor Moisis Cruz Abara, 26; and Richard Siruno Pula, 48 (Surrendered August 7, 2020, Saturday).

Based on the report, the said accused consecutively surrendered when joint operatives of Cabugao Municipal Police Station together with the CIDG Ilocos Sur PFU and operatives from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1 and Provincial Intelligence Unit, Ilocos Sur launched a manhunt operation to implement the Warrant of Arrest against them for Serious Illegal Detention and Grave Coercion issued by Hon. Gemma P Bucayu-Madrid, Executive Judge, RTC Branch 12, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan dated October 22, 2019.

The surrender of said accused was made through the help of Cabugao Mayor Edgardo S Cobangbang, Jr who convinced them to surrender to the authorities.

PBGen Azurin stressed that the success of the series of arrests connotes the stepped up campaign against wanted persons and the stronger and more comprehensive collaboration of all PNP units.

“Let us sustain the momentum and work hand-in-hand to bring our anti-criminality efforts successful to encourage a progressive community to live, work, sustain and do business,” the Regional Director said.

Meanwhile, PBGen Azurin also made an appeal to all wanted persons to surrender and submit themselves to the judicial processes prescribed by law.####

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- The Region 1 police headed by Police Brigadier General Rodolfo S Azurin, Jr., Regional Director together with the National Police Commission- Regional Office 1 (NAPOLCOM-RO1) kicked-off on Monday morning (July 6, 2020) the 25th Police Community Relations Month Celebration at the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) which highlighted the awarding of medals to Police Commissioned Officers (PCO), Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCO), Police Units and Local Chief Executives that immensely contributed and supported the conduct of various PCR activities in their respective areas of responsibility.

The kick-off ceremony of the 25th PCR Month anchored with the theme “Pinaigting na Ugnayan ng Mamamayan at Pulisya, Laban sa COVID-19 Pandemya” was graced by Atty. Monday R Samson, Director of NAPOLCOM-RO1 as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

In his message, he emphasized the importance of technological advancement in coping up with the pandemic and stressed that the National Police Commission is continuously working out online training, programs and webinars that the PNP and other government agencies needed.

“We should not be stopped by other things especially with the pandemic on how to go back to our business,” he stressed.

He also lauded the awardees for displaying valuable commitment in public service. “To all the awardees, congratulations. What you are doing does not only make the PNP proud but also the entire Region 1,” he averred.

Meanwhile, in his message, Police Brigadier General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr., stressed the importance of police community relations in law enforcement. He emphasized that PCR organizes and mobilizes the community in crime prevention.

“This year’s PCR Month theme, “Pinaigting na Ugnayan ng Mamamayan at Pulisya Laban sa COVID-19 Pandemya,” truly underscores the importance of police and community partnership. The month-long celebration includes the conduct of PCR related activities such as lectures on Crime Prevention, Effective Parenting and Responsible Parenthood, Basic Psychological Intervention, Health Protocols on New Normal, outreach programs under Kapwa Ko, Sagot ko Program and tree planting in DENR identified areas.

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO –A total of 400 newly appointed police recruits virtually joins the simultaneous oath taking ceremony with the Chief of the Philippine National Police, Police General Archie Francisco F Gamboa via Zoom App early today, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at San Roque Power Corporation, Brgy San Roque, San Manuel, Pangasinan.

The Chief of the Philippine National Police, Police General Archie Francisco F Gamboa administered their oath of office and congratulated them for passing the rigid screening process set by the PNP and strictly implemented by the Regional Screening Committee (RSC).

PBGen Azurin stressed the importance of their transformation from purely civilians to police officers as well as reminding them to train hard in order to be physically, mentally and spiritually prepared for the hardships of police works, and to become professional and competent public servants who possess high standard of morality and discipline.

“Be forewarned that, in our work as law enforcers, we are expected to be always on the move, always on our guard, in order to keep the communities safe 24/7, especially now that we are facing probably the greatest battle of this generation, the unforeseen enemy, the Covid-19,” PBGen Azurin said.
