CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- Region 1 police director, Chief Superintendent Ericson T. Velasquez and his wife Marilou led on Friday (November 28) the 100 police couples as they renew their vows during the Marriage Enrichment Seminar held at the Diego Silang Hall in La Union Provincial Capitol.
PCSupt. Velasquez, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) said, the “Family and Spiritually Oriented Police Officers: a Marriage Enrichment Workshop” was a brainchild of Mrs. Luzviminda B. Marquez, wife of Chief, PNP Police Director General Ricardo C. Marquez in cooperation with the PNP Officers’ Ladies Club.
The PRO1 Acting Regional Director said, the activity is one way of boosting and enriching the marital relationships of PRO1 personnel with the end-purpose of building God-centered families that will guard their spiritual convictions and moral reputations aside from the promotion of the sanctity of marriage and high regard for the family and chastity.
In his message, he also emphasized the importance of constant communication and respect to each other as primary ingredients for a happy family.
“We need to respect each other and learn our individual differences; internalize the art of communication, the manner on how we communicate with our spouse is necessary. Never communicate with hate, resentment, or jealousy; instead communicate considerately in order to avoid another trouble. In trying times and difficulties with your job, we should remember to take time and cool down before interacting with our family,” PCSupt. Velasquez added.
Mss. Marquez, Innocencia P. Gunnacao and Analiza S. Franco, Adviser, President and Board of Trustees of PNP OLC respectively served as speakers.
The Eucharistic Mass and renewal of vows was officiated by Father Heintje L. Cañete, Chief of the Regional Chaplain Service 1 (RCS1).
