PRO1 tops in the Recovery and Wellness Program for drug surrenderers

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E. Sapitula, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) announced on Monday (June 18) that PRO1 has successfully ranked number one in the Recovery and Wellness Program for having the most number of Community-based Recovery and Wellness Programs conducted for drug surrenderers as of June 4, 2018.

Out of the 17 police regional offices in the country, PRO1 displayed an overall percentage of 78.53% or 31,188 drug surrenderers graduated from the PRO1’s initiated and supported recovery and wellness programs. A total of 39,714 drug personalities surrendered to PRO1 wherein 1,593 and 29,595 undergone the initiated and supported programs respectively.

PCSupt. Sapitula said, the support of the PNP, PDEA, local government units, anti-drug abuse councils, stakeholders and the willingness of these surrenderers to undergo RWP played vital roles in attaining this accomplishment.

“We are keenly implementing this RWP to help and support our drug surrenderers’ rehabilitation, because we believe that they deserve second chances to rebuild their lives. And, we are doing this in partnership with the LGUs, stakeholders and other religious groups here in Region 1,” PCSupt. Sapitula added.

The Regional Director also added that aside from RWP some of the drug surrenderers were enrolled in vocational courses and given livelihood programs. ###
