CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- The Chief, Philippine National Police, Police General Debold Menorias Sinas paid his first command visit to Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) on January 2 and 3, 2021.
The 25th Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) with the other members of the Directorial Staff were welcomed with a field demonstration by the police trainees of Regional Training Center 1 and skills demonstration of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1 and Regional Explosives and Canine Unit personnel.
During the ceremony, Police General Sinas led the conferment of awards to the PNP personnel who displayed outstanding performance of duties that contributed to the anti-criminality campaign of PRO1.
Three hundred (300) units of Galil Rifles were also turned over to the Provincial Directors of the four police provincial offices in Region 1 as a continuing effort of the PNP leadership and the national government to enhance the firepower, mobility, and tactical capabilities of PNP.
In his message, PGen Sinas lauded Police Regional Office 1 for doing an excellent job in sustaining its crime prevention efforts amid COVID-19. He also congratulated PRO1 for its immediate and comprehensive response against COVID-19 with low infection rate and zero casualties noted.
Addressing the previous incidents where PNP personnel were involved in crimes, PGen Sinas emphasized that he will not tolerate police personnel who are violating the law and that they will be subjected for dismissal.
“Hindi natin poprotekahan ang mga kasama nating gumawa ng masasama. However, this should not stop us from doing what is right and what is good. It should not affect us in our performance and we should always be proud of our organization and ourselves,” he said.
He then challenged the men and women of Police Regional Office 1 to enhance and intensify anti-illegal drugs operation, target High-Value Individuals, and recover more volume of illegal drugs.
“Let us support the president’s passion in the eradication of illegal drugs, corruption, criminality, insurgency, and illegal gambling,” PGen Sinas stressed.
After the ceremony, the Chief, PNP led the Ceremonial Burning of more or less 37,200 fully grown marijuana plants, 14,490 marijuana seedlings, and 13,300 grams of dried marijuana stalks with a total DDB value of Php 9,409,020.00. He also led the Blessing of PRO1 Bus and PRO1 Quarantine Facility.
After which, a command conference with the CPNP was held at the PRO1 Conference Room where Police Brigadier General Rodolfo S Azurin, Jr., PRO1 Regional Director presented a significant decrease of 43% on the recorded crime incidents in Region 1 especially on the 8-focus crimes and notable accomplishments on the arrest of Most Wanted Persons.
The significant decrease of crime incidents in Region 1 is a result of relentless campaign against criminality, illegal drugs, internal security operations (using the PRRD’s Executive Order 70) and corruption. This program is called KASIMBAYANAN or Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan wherein the Local Government Units, the PNP, the church and community collaborates, cooperates, commits to work together for the prevention and control of crimes and make the community safe and peaceful.
